Niery Armando Tafur Olortegui
EMERGING ACEER CONSERVATION FELLOW

Niery Vato was born in Chancay-Lima in 1992 and currently resides in Puerto Maldonado where he has been living since he was 3 years-old. Niery gained a passion for the environment at an early age from spending every school vacation living in the jungle on his uncle’s Brazil Nut concession and learning about nature. He is now an official tourism guide and is enthusiastic about everything related to environmental conservation. Over the last 6 years Niery has been volunteering in the Tambopata National Reserve, and working with other environmental organizations such as: MINAM, AIDER, and ACEER to carry out environmental education activities. Niery is currently focusing on field research projects in the Madre de Dios region of Peru.
