"Conservation is about appreciating, and preserving the world around us; some of which include: nature, resources, cultures, language, and belief systems."

Biography:

"Ashley Carter (MS, MEd) is a current sixth grade science teacher with the Indian River School District. After working as a forensic scientist for over eight years, she decided that she could have a larger impact on her community by educating tomorrows leaders. Her passion for science, coupled with her endless curiosity, led her to become more interested in environmental/conservation science education.

In 2019/2020, her students had the opportunity to collaborate with University of Delaware on Project SWARM. Students were able to not only study/interpret data about the Antarctic food web, but also engage with Dr. Matt Oliver while he was working at Palmer Station in Antartica. The enthusiasm she witnessed in her students during the project solidified for her that hands on learning, that is also relevant/relatable is where growth and learning occur. Through the ACEER Foundation, she plans on bringing a global perspective of Earth Science to her students via the Peruvian Amazon, while also tying in the local Lenape tribe for a more local perspective regarding culture and environmental preservation."
